About Paris

Born in London and raised in Australia, Paris trained as a dancer which she found gave her a physical ease into acting. Dialogue and blocking a scene for film or stage became a choreography, something felt rather than intellectualised, a musicality and rhythm heard in the dialogue which would lead to the understanding of the text. Paris trained in Meisner which she found suited her dance background because it aimed to take the focus off of one’s self and instead onto the other actor. Like dancing, Meisner training leads actors to stop thinking.

Paris has portrayed a diverse range of characters from a rock icon to a mythical goddess to the First Lady earning critical acclaim and awards. In 2018, she won Best Actress in a Leading role at the British Independent Film Festival for her role in Sunset Contract.

Off Stage

In addition to her acting career, she has earned recognition as a photographer and came third in the UK competition, The Irish in London. Her photographs have been published in The Irish Times and Asiana Magazine.

Of her screenplay Looking for Dez Cart, the award-winning director Fred Schepsi described it as “touching, surprising, and intriguing.”

She has a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and History, and a MA Communication, and it was during her MA that Paris found herself drawn to the study of voice and the power of certain accents over others. Moreover, to ask the question why are some accents cast in certain roles and how this decision subliminally directs the audience to respond in different ways to the characters and story.
